The Department of Recreation Services is once again hosting the Health and Wellness Expo on Wednesday, March 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Flanagan Gymnasium. The event is free and open to all faculty, staff and students with valid SU/ESF ID.
The event hosts more than 50 vendors who offer a variety of health and wellness-related services, resources and products available on and off campus, such as chiropractic care, stress reduction, mindful eating, yoga and more. Among the group of vendors will be representatives from the employee benefits programs, including POMCO, OptumRx, Delta Dental and TIAA. Information will also be available about the University Wellness Initiative, the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program through Carebridge, and VSP vision benefits. Stop by the vendors’ tables for product demonstrations, free samples, information and activities.
For Michelle Goode, OHP’s health promotion specialist focused on sexual and relationship violence prevention, the decision to focus on sexual health is one that “Everyone wants to learn more about but has historically been taboo. Sex and sexuality are normal and natural parts of everyone’s life and there are so many ways that someone can have healthy expressions of sexual health.” Frisky February is all about getting “sex-positive messaging out, since sexual health is a topic that is not talked about much,” says Goode.
