This proposed group is wide-ranging and includes approximately 650 staff members from across 13 schools, colleges and academic units within this bargaining unit. This includes disparate job positions and functions – from administrative assistant to marketing specialist – across academic programming, accounting, executive support, housing, communications, facilities, information technology and many other disciplines.
Given the diverse functions of jobs included in the proposed unit, we encourage eligible employees to educate themselves about what it would mean for them individually to join a union and thoughtfully consider how it may impact issues important to them.
The union would become the exclusive voice for employees on issues related to the terms and conditions of their employment. Individual employees would be prevented from negotiating unique and specific arrangements, such as regarding flexible work schedules or remote work, related to their terms or conditions of employment directly with their respective supervisors unless otherwise permitted in the collective bargaining agreement or agreed to by the union.
