Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues:
As the fall semester gets underway, I am writing to make you aware of some changes in the way open positions at the University are posted publicly. Beginning Sept. 17, salary ranges and/or specific hourly rates of pay will accompany the description of any position being offered, whether posted internally or externally on SUJobOpps.com, the Syracuse University Job Board, or through third-party search firms, social media, electronic or print sources.
This change is intended to create greater transparency and attract the most qualified candidates to fill open positions, including those for faculty, part-time instructors, staff, temporary and student employees. This change is also in compliance with New York State’s Pay Transparency Law, a new law designed to provide job candidates with additional information in all forms of employment across industries.
Salary ranges will be determined based on input from schools, colleges and administrative units as well as internal and external market data for similar positions.
We hope these changes will help simplify the job search process for talented individuals who are seeking positions with the University. Syracuse University employees are encouraged to promote opportunities at the University among their networks and always include a link to the posting on SUJobOpps.com when doing so to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
If you have any questions about this change, please contact your unit’s senior HR business partner or HR Shared Services at hrservice@syr.edu or 315.443.4042.
Thank you, in advance, for your assistance implementing this important change.
Sincerely,
Andrew R. Gordon
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer
