Syracuse University offers you the option to set aside pre-tax dollars in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to help cover health care and dependent care expenses. FSAs are administered by HealthEquity.
Key Details
- Health Care FSA: Covers eligible expenses like copays, prescriptions, dental, and vision care for you and your spouse, children, or other dependents you claim on your tax return, even if they aren’t on your Syracuse University health plan or any health plan.
- Dependent Care FSA: Covers daycare or related expenses for your eligible dependents so you or your spouse/domestic partner can work or attend school.
- 2025 Limits:
- Health Care FSA: $3,300 (carry over up to $660 to 2026)
- Dependent Care FSA: $5,000 (no carryover)
- Claims Deadline: Submit expenses for Jan. 1–Dec. 31 by April 30 of the following year.
- Changing Elections: Adjust during Open Enrollment, when your are first eligible, or within 31-days of a life event.
