SEIU Bargaining Unit members enrolled in the University’s health plan coverage pay the monthly rates listed on the SEIU Health Plan Contributions webpage – unless they qualify for reduced Schedule B contributions. Some SEIU members automatically qualify for Schedule B under the collective bargaining agreement. Others may apply if they meet income and household size requirements.
SEIU Members: Automatic Schedule B Eligibility
SEIU members meeting the following criteria automatically qualify for lower health plan contributions under Schedule B:
- Classified as Grade Two or Three
- Completed at least two years of service by Dec. 31, 2026
What to Expect:
When you complete Open Enrollment in MySlice (Nov. 3–14), you’ll see contributions based on your current enrollment. In mid-December, HR Shared Services will adjust rates for qualifying SEIU members and send a revised confirmation statement to your Syracuse University email.
Other SEIU Members May Still Apply:
If you don’t automatically qualify, you can still apply for lower contributions through Schedule B. Apply by Dec. 5 on the Schedule B webpage.
If you are a member of the SEIU bargaining unit, you may choose to enroll in the Service Employees Benefit Fund (SEBF) dental and vision plans instead of the University plans. If you have specific questions regarding the plans through SEBF, please contact SEBF at 855.835.9720.
Remember:
- If you are enrolled in one of the University’s plans: This is the second year of a two-year commitment. Your current elections remain in effect through Dec. 31, 2026, unless you have a qualifying life event.
- If you are enrolled in one of the SEBF plans: You may waive, maintain or change your SEBF coverage.
- If you are currently not enrolled in any dental and vision plans: You may continue to waive or enroll in one of the SEBF plans.

The SEBF Weekly Disability Plan offers:
- A benefit of one-half of your average weekly salary to a maximum of $170 per week for up to 26 weeks.
- A weekly benefit that is paid for any injury or illness that is not work related.
- No premium payments are required while you are out of work due to an approved disability.
- You can collect the SEBF benefit in addition to other disability benefits, such as New York State Statutory Disability and Syracuse University Supplemental Short Term Disability. For more information, please visit the SEBF website.
